Many people are raving about thread lift as the new face-lift, but there are actually some distinct differences and unique benefits.
What is thread lift?
The thread lift procedure is a minimally invasive method to tighten and rejuvenate skin primarily on the face and neck. At OCP Medical Center our cosmetic dermatologists are using permanent threads to induce skin-firming collagen, the new and improved thread lift method uses dissolvable threads to minimize lines, wrinkles, and drooping skin.
Thread lifts are a great option not only for those with loose skin but also for those who need to refresh an old facelift. Results can last from six months to two years and can be combined with Botox for additional benefits.
What are the benefits?
- Performing a thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure which is easier for patients. There are no incisions and there is no deep tissue manipulation, so recovery is quick – often only two to three days.
- The FDA approved the new thread lift procedure when doctors began using dissolvable threads. These threads reduce the risk of infection because as they dissolve, the immune system is able to eradicate bacteria that was previously inaccessible due to existing threads.
- Doctors perform thread lifts using local anesthesia which has less risk of complication than general anesthesia. The recovery for a procedure using general anesthetic is also more complex because of the use of the endotracheal tube to help the patient breathe during the procedure.
- Thread lifting is relatively inexpensive which makes it accessible to more people.
