The procedure takes approximately 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the complexity of the procedure.
This procedure can be done under sedation/general anesthesia and in some light cases also under local anesthesia. In all cases you will not feel any pain during the procedure.
You can go home after the procedure and 3-5 days after the procedure any sutures are removed.

For optimal results, this procedure is usually combined with an upper eyelid correction and/or under eyelid correction. Using this new technique the classic eyebrow lift, when skin is removed above the eye brow, is performed less often.

During the initial consultation with at OCP, you will discuss everything related to the procedure: which method will be used, expectations of the result, possible risks and aftercare. The Plastic Surgeon will also take pictures for your medical file, which is securely stored.
The Procedure
An endoscopic brow lift starts by injecting a special fluid locally that reduces blood loss strongly. Then on both side of the forehead, in the hairline, three small incisions are made of approximately 1 cm each. The hair does not have to be shaved to do this. Via these small incisions, the instruments used are inserted. Now the plastic surgeon can raise the eyebrows, by pulling the skin upwards. When the eyebrows are at good and natural height, the skin is sutured to the forehead. The excess of skin does not need to be removed, but is spread hidden behind the hairline and disappears after several weeks. In the past, a forehead lift would leave a large scar from ear to ear. Thanks to this endoscopic technique, the scars are so small, that it can also be done for people who are bald.
Anesthesia
The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia or sedation, depending on your personal preference. You can discuss other options during the consultation with the plastic surgeon.
After the procedure
The Plastic Surgeon will assess your condition after the procedure and you can go home after the procedure. The pain after the procedure differs for each patient, but Paracetamol will suffice in most cases. The recovery other than that will be painless. As with any other cosmetic surgery the treated area needs time to heal. You will need to cool the treated area after the procedure to reduce swelling and bruising. You will get instructions about how to do this.
Results
Shortly after the procedure the tightening of the skin will be visible. Only when the swelling has mostly disappeared, the result can be seen. The final results are visible after the wounds and the tissue under the skin are fully healed. This takes approximately 6 months to fully recover. The incisions that are made to perform the endoscopic brow lift, are sutured as beautiful as possible and are hidden in the hairline. The first few months, the scar may look a little red, but with time they will gradually have skin color.
Risks of an Endoscopic Brow Lift
As with most cosmetic surgeries, there is a risk of an allergic reaction to the anesthesia, disinfectants or plasters. Also, even though the procedure is done under sterile conditions, the area could be infected. Chances to this are very small though.
Sometimes patients experience a disturbed healing of the wound or post-operative bleeding. This does not have to cause any negative consequences for the result of the procedure.
Some specific risks for an endoscopic brow lift might be (temporary) hair loss and a desensitized skin. This will resolve itself within 1-3 months.
