The procedure takes approximately 1 to 2 hours, depending on the complexity and type of Facelift.
This procedure can be done under sedation/general anesthesia. You will not feel any pain during the procedure.

Upon the first contact with our Plastic Surgery department, you will be in contact with your own, dedicated Patient Coordinator. He or she will advise you on the procedure, help you choose a doctor, book an appointment and anything else you might need. This ensures that your experience is smooth and that you feel comfortable.
During the initial consultation with at OCP, you will discuss everything related to the procedure: which method will be used, expectations of the result, possible risks and aftercare. The Plastic Surgeon will also take pictures for your medical file, which is securely stored.
The Procedure
Every facelift sugery is tailored to your requirements, following your needs and expectations. The incision that is used to perform the facelift will be made as short as possible. The standard incision in front of the ear till the ear lobe will, if necessary, extended up to the hair line, above the ear or sometimes also behind the ear; depending on you personal circumstances (build, type, condition of skin, sex, etc.). For a facelift the skin will be lifted upwards, if the neck is also lifted, then sometimes the skin is also tightened backwards.
During the procedure
During the procedure the skin is being detached from the subcutaneous connective and muscular tissue (SMAS). This SMAS layer is the foundation of the face and has a lot more firmness than the skin itself. Bt lifting the SMAS, the skin will go with this layer which creates the refreshing effect. Using special sutures, the SMAS layer is tightened and fixated. This way you will have a longer effect of the procedure. Lastly, the excess skin is being removed and the skin is sutured with any tension. This last part is important to make sure that the scar is practically invisible.
Anesthesia
The use of anesthesia used depends on the type of facelift you will undergo. The type of anesthesia may be local anesthesia for a short-scar facelift, sedation or general anesthesia. In case of sedation you will be relaxed and sleeping. You will not feel anything during the procedure, but you can easily being awoken. It is also possible to perform this procedure under general anesthesia, this can be discussed with your doctor.
Location of the procedure
Minimally-invasive minor procedures that can be done using local anesthesia may take place at OCP Medical Center at the luxurious Fairmont Hotel Dubai, in our fully equipped procedure room. After the surgery you will be fully taken care of in a relaxing room and enjoy the amenities. A surgical facelift procedure which will be done in a sterile environment. The procedure will take place in a hospital contracted by OCP, close to the clinic. Even though the procedure takes place at a different location, all your consultations and all contact goes via OCP.
After the procedure
A facelift is a procedure that is not painful. Usually the only discomfort are the bandages and some swelling. The Plastic Surgeon will assess your condition after the procedure, but usually you can go home directly after the procedure. The pain after the procedure differs for each patient, but Paracetamol will suffice in most cases. The recovery other than that will be painless. As with any other cosmetic surgery the treated area needs time to heal. You will need to cool the treated area after the procedure to reduce swelling and bruising. You will get instructions about how to dothis. Normally, you will not look representative for about a week after the procedure.
Results
A facelift always gives a clear improvement and visible rejuvenation. It is important that when you consider a face lift, that you have realistic expectations of the result. The Plastic Surgeon will try to explain the expected result as good as possible during your consultation.
Risks of a Facelift
As with most cosmetic surgeries, there is a risk of an allergic reaction to the anesthesia, disinfectants or plasters. Also, even though the procedure is done under sterile conditions, the area could be infected. Chances to this are very small though. Specific complications after a facelift are damage to nerves in the face, hair loss and numbness in the face. The risk of these complications can be minimized by not smoking for several weeks.
