Thigh Lift

The Procedure
A thigh lift is always performed in a sterile operating theatre under sedation or narcosis by an experienced plastic surgeon. First, the plastic surgeon will accurately draw on the upper legs the amount of skin that needs to be removed.

During the procedure the skin is detached from the underlying fat and muscle layers. The excess of skin is removed and an excess of fat is sucked away. The procedure takes approximately 1 to 2 hours.

Anesthesia
The procedure is done under sedation or general anesthesia. In the case of sedation you will be relaxed and sleeping. You will not feel anything during the procedure, but you can easily being awoken. It is also possible to perform this procedure under general anesthesia, this will be discussed with your doctor.

Location of the procedure
A thigh lift is a surgical procedure which will be done in a sterile environment. The procedure will take place in a hospital contracted by OCP, close to the clinic. Even though the procedure takes place at a different location, all your consultations and all contact goes via OCP.

After the procedure
When you recover from the general anesthesia you might feel weak and tired. You may experience some pain after the procedure due to swelling and bruising. Usually light pain medication is enough to minimize the pain.

The Plastic Surgeon will assess your condition after the procedure and sometimes you can go home directly after the procedure. The pain after the procedure differs for each patient, but Paracetamol will suffice in most cases. The recovery other than that will be painless. As with any other cosmetic surgery the treated area needs time to heal.

You will use corrective for 3 to 7 days to reduce swelling and bruising, as well as reduces tension on the wound. You will need to wear this day and night.After this you will need to wear elastic pants for up to 6 weeks, which will reduce swelling.

After a thigh lift you will need to take good care of yourself. You will need to walk immediately after the procedure stand and walk, but not long distances. Only after a week of rest you may resume your normal daily activities, but with caution. It will take 4 to 6 weeks for you to be able to do everything again.

The first months the scar can be quite red of colour. After this they will adjust to your skin colour and become less visible. It is important to not expose the scars to sunlight during the first year after the procedure. Keep the scars covered or protect them with a high protection sun cream (sun block).

Results
Our experience is that people expect a completely firm result. This is something that most of the time can not be achieved. The skin on your legs will be visibly firmer. The sutures will be done as beautiful as possible on the inside of the legs so that they will not be visible.

Shortly after the procedure the tightening of the skin is visibly. Only after the swelling is reduced you can clearly see the result. The final result is only visible after the wound and the underlying tissue have healed completely. This is approximately 1 year after the procedure.

If you have realistic expectations of the procedure, you will mostly be very happy after the procedure. The final result will depend on several factors: your build, your age, hormone function, recovery of your body and the elasticity of your skin. The plastic surgeon can clearly indicate which results may be expected.

Risks of an Liposuction
A thigh lift is done by an expert surgeon of OCP and the technique is very refined. Complications luckily rarely occur. As with most cosmetic surgeries, there is a risk of an allergic reaction to the anesthesia, disinfectants or plasters. Also, even though the procedure is done under sterile conditions, the area could be infected. Chances to this are very small though.
